The twelfth episode of The Academy of Esports Podcast discusses the idea of esports and inclusion. Microsoft and the Special Olympics partnered on an esports event centered around showing how all gamers can participate in the same game, with the same rules, but with different interactive devices. All our students deserve the opportunity to participate in authentic competitive experiences, and esports allows that more so that traditional sports.
EDIT: This will be part one of a two part episode. After receiving some fantastic feedback, I do not feel I did proper justice in laying out the topic well. I have invited my friend, C.J. Campbell, to sit in on the next episode to clarify and extend the discussion. C.J. is a fantastic person and an advocate for those with disabilities. He is an avid fan of professional wrestling, video games, and is an accomplished author and storyteller.
