This week on The Academy of Esports, I reflect on the work we have done to bring esports to the city of Racine. We have a fantastic partnership with the local gaming lounge, Not Your Parents' Basement. We have a grant to fund three of our high school teams at NYPB. We have a grant that funded our first team at The Walden School. We are part of a fast growing state association full of dedicated educators with a passion for gaming. We have a gift from the Racine Public Library Foundation to purchase 12 gaming laptops for use in the library. We have one student already on scholarship at Robert Morris University in Chicago, and a new D1 program at Marquette University in Milwaukee. And we have the Milwaukee Bucks NBA2K team just up the road. We are quickly becoming a midwest hub for esports!

Esports is organized competitive video games allowing schools to redefine their athletic culture, diversify opportunities for student participation, promote physical and mental health, increase collegiate scholarship pathways, and play games!  We cannot forget the importance of play!
