Description

In honor of the release of “Resilience: How the COVID-19 Pandemic Made Us Wiser and Stronger,” the Resilience Initiative celebrated that the sun never really sets on resilience through three events over the course of one day. The last of these events was held at 7:30pm New York time on Tuesday, June 8.

In this episode, you’ll hear the conversations from that session. Adi Westerman, owner of Hot Yoga Asheville, reads her essay “Reverse is Not an Option,” and J.W. Bonner, Associate Head of the Asheville school and regular writer for the Asheville Poetry Review, reads his essay “The Pleasures of Reading People’s Faces.”

Thank you to Diana Wu David, author of Future Proof, for reading the foreword from the book.

“Reading Watson Jordan's memoir brought to mind other powerful testaments to loss and grief such as A Grief Observed by C.S. Lewis and A Severe Mercy by Sheldon Vanauken. Like these writers, Jordan pulls back the curtain to reveal an intimate account of tragedy as well as enduring love. Jordan's writing is a gift to all of us who have and will face the loss of loved ones.” James W Pharr
