Southern Wesleyan University alumna, Megan (Lord) Petersen(2005) discusses the 5 year process to get the movie "Drought" made. From her decision to start acting to co-creating and co-directing the movie with writer and friend, Hannah Black, to the ups and downs of actually getting the movie made. Faced with numerous heartaches and setbacks along the way, Megan and the team persevered and now the world premiere is just around the corner. Megan and her husband, Lucas(another SWU Alumnus), live in Wilmington, NC. Here's the film's synopsis:
It’s 1993 and North Carolina is experiencing a historic drought. Autistic teen Carl, fascinated by weather, predicts that a storm will soon hit nearby. His sister Sam crafts a plan to help him chase the storm, stealing their mother’s ice cream truck to embark on a road trip about family, forgiveness, and following your dreams.
