Bonding Activities

The emotional bond and connection from parents to unborn baby form attachment during pregnancy. The parents develop imagery connection with the growing fetus through the bonding activities which help family members and unborn baby to bond and connect with one another.

1. Pregnancy Journal

It is good to jot down your thoughts, feelings and insight towards the experience of your pregnancy.

It may be the record of hospital or clinic visit, the physical condition or growth of your baby.

It may be any important event in the family e.g. celebration of birthdays of your family members.

It may be the feeling and thinking towards the baby.

2. Love Letter

 Mother to unborn baby

Write a love letter to your unborn baby to tell him or her how much you love him or her and how important he or she is.

Unborn baby to motherยถ

After you have written your letter to your baby, you need to relax and imagine that you were your baby. You were looking forward to communicating with your mommy. After you have read the love letter from your mother, what would like to tell your mother.

Father or siblings to unborn babyยถ

Give father and siblings a chance to write what they want to communicate with unborn baby. Then, they read it aloud to baby. You can observe the response of baby.

If the siblings are old enough, you can encourage them to write a letter.  Alternatively, you may introduce drawing, pasting, audio recording or singing to help them bond with baby at the earliest stage.

3. Drawingยถ

It is a wonderful way to express your feelings towards the unborn baby by drawing. Write your experience with drawings in your journal.
