In the wake of the (more) tragic news about Ellis Marsalis jr. I talked to my friend Derek. We've known each other since the very first day he moved here 27 years ago. He has been blessed enough to play with Mr. Marsalis for 25 years. I must admit this was more of a therapy session for me. I'm glad Derek was gracious enough to talk to me amidst his own grief.
