Description

Laura and I kick off another session of Caught in the Krausefire with the Master of Forestry Students in the College of Forest Resources and Environmental Science, but this time with the class of 2021.

This and the following 5 episodes, I will be interviewing MF students in our professionalism class taught by the one and only Mickey Jarvi (who will also be joining us!) The goal of these episodes is for us to attain some communication skills so that we can be accredited through the Society of American Foresters upon graduation.

Laura is a Native Yooper from Marquette, Michigan. She jumped right into the natural resource field after high school doing Silviculture in Munising for the National Forest Service, worked for The Nature Conservancy, did work in Chile, works at the Northern Research Station, and is even going to be a moose watcher this summer on Isle Royale National Park!

Laura and I have had many similar paths that have criss crossed SO MANY TIMES but we had never met... UNTIL NOW! (hence the title of this episode). Marquette, Munising, working with individuals with disabilities, and finally here at Michigan Tech.

Get Caught in the Krausefire this episode as we chat about Laura's previous and current work experience, her hobbies of rock and ice climbing, what the future holds for her, and these big flightless birds all named Rhea?
