Luke 1: 67-79
67 His father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied:
Today’s prayer:
68 I praise you, Lord, the God of Israel, because you have come to your people and redeemed them. 69 You have raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of your servant David 70 (as you said through your holy prophets of long ago), 71 salvation from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us. 72 You have shown mercy to your people and remembered your holy covenant, 73 the oath you swore to Abraham: 74 to rescue us from the hand of our enemies, and to enable us to serve you without fear 75 in holiness and righteousness before you all our days. 76 Like your prophet John, O God Most High; who went before your Son to prepare the way for him, 77 use me to give your people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins, 78 because of your tender mercy, God. Like a rising sun sent from heaven, 79 shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death and guide our feet into the path of peace. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
