Sekitar abad ke 13, pada masa keemasan kerajaan Singasari di bawah kekuasan raja Kertanegara ( 1268-1292 ), nama Banggai telah di kenal dan menjadi bagian kerajaan Singasari di Jawa Timur tersebut.
