Description

In this episode, I am sharing wisdom about the Celtic Light Festival of Imbolic, the first festival in the wheel of the year. This festival honors the middle of the season--the transitional time between winter and spring when the days are beginning to get longer and we are seeing the first rays of longer light. This is the festival that honors the goddess Brigid. She is a triple goddess that assist with the gifts of Smithing, Healing and Poetry. She also is the holder of a sacred flame. The flame is representation of two things, both of which are also integral for this Light Festival, and they are the home hearth and the flame of creativity. The Celts made no distinction between the two because one was inextricable in its representation of the other. When the home hearth is not tending, it goes out. Darkness ensues. Coldness dominates. So it is with our flame of creativity; if we do not tend it, we also become cold, lost in the dark, and feeling without the warmth of purpose and imagination. We want to reconnect, rekindle, and re stoke up those fires that are so important for sustaining a healthy life force. I also include some suggestions on how to celebrate this sacred three day festival by reconnecting with our fire element within ourselves, in the energy and in the body. Many blessings to you as you honor this Celtic festival of light! Awen.
