Description

In today’s show, we are talking about what it means to be witnessed by others, and the vulnerability we need to show up with in order to allow ourselves the experience of being witnessed. I share a personal narrative of a powerful experience of being witnessed by a group of women. It came at a time when I so deeply needed it. Being witnessed means we allow ourselves to come just as we are, with all our messiness, all of our emotions and feelings, and all of what is in our heads and hearts and just BE. Being the witness means we do not feel the need to fix or change or offer advice. Instead, we can choose to see our own struggles in the other person, and allow them to have their experience in our presence while we offer empathy and compassion and presence. It doesn’t take the right words or the right actions to be a powerful witness. It just takes a matched amount of vulnerability, and the willingness to see our own humanness in the pain and struggle of others. And it’s a powerful and loving thing to witness someone —without judgement, and without the need to make anyone feel better. We meet the need of ourselves and others when we decide to be a witness that allows the experience to unfold in our space, and we can hold ourselves open to what that may look and feel like. There is no need to do anything else but just BE. Because we all are what we are, and what we are is good. I offer a somatic meditation for the practice of being a witness to the self, and we end with a card reading and some questions for your week. So glad and grateful to have you here. From my messy human self to you, you are so welcome to be here however you are in this moment. I am always glad to have you. Love from your host, Kristi. I mention another podcast in the intro, it is called Embodied Astrology and is hosted by Renee Sills, do check that our for a deeper dive into the coming astrological season.
