The Fig Tree 2 of 4 - Bible Boost #9
Have you ever seen someone do something that seemed so out of character that it made you stop and do a double take. Well, this is one of those moments with Jesus. Here’s what He does,
Matthew 21:19 Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, “May you never bear fruit again!” Immediately the tree withered.
Seems out of character doesn’t it? We know that He’s hungry but now it seems like He’s hangry.
Please, Don’t think Jesus to be destructive.
Trust that Jesus is being instructive.
Let’s think about that tree for just a moment. That precocious show of foliage promised but did not provide. It advertised: I’m healthy, I’ve got what you need, but did not deliver.
Our job is not to show but to grow. Jesus put a higher priority on the fruit not the leaves. How can you grow fruit now:
