Do you recall the fig tree that Jesus killed with just His words? Well,
Matthew 21:20 When the disciples saw this, they were amazed. “How did the fig tree wither so quickly?” they asked.
To be amazed by Jesus’ power is important.
However our pride prevents Jesus’ power from producing, what could be argued as, the first and necessary affect in our life, astonishment.
When we have that epiphany, that light bulb moment, we quickly exclaim, “He’s God: Creator and Savior.”
Without astonishment, without wonder, and without amazement we can easily convince ourselves that we’re His equal or that He needs to try just a little bit harder to prove His power to us.
We downplay, so we can horseplay, but then comes doomsday.
God will eventually reveal His great power but wouldn’t be wise to humble ourselves now rather than give an account later. As Scripture says, “Every knee will bow and every tongue will confess.”
Wouldn’t it be nice to have His partnership of power now? It can be yours with a simple contrite prayer. If you need to pray, let me know.
