Jennifer recently lost her sister to suicide along with her father many years ago. We are very grateful Jennifer had the courage to discuss these tragic losses to help someone else.
Jennifer attended the University of Florida for her undergraduate studies in English and graduated with highest honors. She then attended the University of Florida College of Law and graduated in 1991, where she was President of her class.
She has spent the majority of her legal career as an insurance defense litigator for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and Fireman’s Fund Insurance Companies. She is currently a solo practitioner and her practice focuses on Animal Law. She is also an adjunct professor at Stetson University College of Law where she has taught the Animal Law Seminar for 14 years.
Jennifer is a frequent speaker around the state regarding suicide prevention and Animal Law.
She has also spoken to multiple media about Animal Law to SPCA organizations, the Humane Society, private charitable organizations, civic organizations, and animal-related organizations. Her writings have been published in several animal-related publications.
She received the Solo and Small Firm Section’s Judge Walter Crumbley Award in June 2008 and the Excellence in Leadership Award and in 2016, Jennifer was awarded the Excellence in Animal Law by the Animal Law Section of The Florida Bar for her work in promoting animal law throughout Florida.
Jennifer shares a home with her husband John, her daughter 18-year-old daughter Olivia, two rescued Pit Bull/Labrador mix dogs, and two rescued cats. Jennifer is an identical twin. Her parents had no idea that they were having twins, so when they were born, they were a huge surprise to the doctor, our mother, our father, and our grandparents!!
