Scientology is a religion that was started by a man named L. Ron Hubbard. Hubbard was known for his science fiction writings. In 1950 he wrote a book called Dianetics which was intended to be a new psychotherapy to deal with unwanted sensations and emotions, irrational fears and illness caused by stress. He later made it a religion in 1952.
