None of us like punishment BUT punishment does produce Wisdom (if we allow it to)!
“To discipline a child produces wisdom,
but a mother is disgraced by an undisciplined child.” Proverbs 29:15 (NLT)
When we are not punished or when we don't punish others, we are not instilling wisdom to those who need behavior corrected.
