To make police officers behave and act in a gender sensitive manner, Rachakonda police in Telangana is conducting gender sensitization training to newly recruited police constable officers.
Rachakonda commissioner of police Mahesh Bhagwat while interacting with the first batch of trainees, said that such training at the very initial stage of they taking up their job would help break stereotypes on gender issues. He said this would help the recruits develop a gender sensitive approach at the workplace as well as when dealing with sexual violence/harassment complaints. The training intends to ensure that the response of the police would be appropriate in situations which warrants them being sensitive. The training will continue regularly for the 1606 police recruits in batches of 50 to 60 twice a week.
