hello,and welcome to Episode 12 of Journal of small musings.
I'm Apoorv Bedmutha and today I'll be talking about my experience as freelancer the stuff that I did right, The stuff that i did wrong as well as the things I learnt from it.
okay, so the initial step when you want to start as a freelancer is answering the question "what service do you want to provide?"
There one simple rule choose something you are really passionate about.
Something that you'll do even if you do not earn a single penny from it.
Now choosing this takes time and best way to find out is by trying as many things as possible.
eventually you'll find something that suits you,something you love.
The most basic mistake that we do is we start doing stuff with the aim of earning money from it rather than aiming to make a career in something you love.
Because as a freelancer It'll take a long time for you to have a consistent flow of profits,if your aim is money I'd suggest you to get a job.
Freelancing is more about freedom rather than money,
so choose a profession that you'll want to stick with your entire life.
Something you'll do even if no one's watching
Now the next big thing is consistency,
you need to work each day and everyday,
that is the only way you'll grow.
being a freelancer is like running a one man startup.
and startups do not have holidays.
you need to have a discipline a regiment and the consistency of following it each day every day.
Once, you have figured out your passion,consistency,discipline and all that good stuff.
The next thing is documenting your progress,
you need to exposure,you need market your skills,
Open a social media account start throwing your work there.
On a daily share relevant content.
You don't need a 100 followers,
You only need 10 people who will invest in you.
slowly but eventually your platform will grow.
make your audience aware about what you are providing,
how it'll help them,
Now it's time about getting your first customers.
