There's a connection between 1950's Cinderella and Fight Club. Both the fairy godmother and Tyler Durden materialise right at the moment of the main characters almost hitting rock bottom. They create the hope for something new or something that needs to happen. In order for these manifestations to take place, whether in their minds or through magic, both their intentions are fixed on making the protagonist continue their story in a very specific way.
