It can be understood that there is always a monster within us, whether we let it loose or keep it hidden. We cannot hide from ourselves, what with the chaos around us, but we can choose what to do with what we realise.
The externalisation of the monster is perhaps part of a survivalism play. And here, with Teddy and Chuck, the lines between man and monster seem to blur.
