Description

It’s no secret that Philadelphia is a horse town, and not just because “philly” is a homonym for a female equine. Informal stables exist throughout North and West Philadelphia and in Cobbs Creek Park. The horses are ridden throughout the city's streets and regular races are held on an open strip of Fairmount Park called the Speedway. So today we want to talk about some of the more noteworthy ponies from the city’s history, namely Barbaro and Smarty Jones.
