Jay Z is a pioneer in the Hip-Hop Community. With multi-platinum albums charting everywhere. And must I mention sell out stadium concerts world-wide. But one thing for sure that makes him my pick for today's’ new black leaders is his social justice initiatives. Now to give him credit where credit is due, Jay-Z has for a length of time being doing social justice work behind the scenes. He helped pay for some of the legal help in the Trayvon Martin case, and he helped to bring awareness to the injustices that were doing to Kalief Browder, and innocent that was locked up for a crime he did not commit. I like his style and he commands a strong audience. What makes him a leader is his platform to invite and he himself speak on the issues that are affecting the black community, and oftentimes he gives us those golden nuggets unfiltered. He has published two best-selling books and which his most recent book ‘Shook One’ being the prescription that black people need in terms of uncovering the mental illness that plagues our communities.
