Watching Monique on The Breakfast Club, Sway in The Morning a number of other shows and now SteveTV, she makes me wonder what the hell is going on with Monique. Of course we all know the backlash moment between her, Oprah, Tyler Perry and Lee Daniels. But what’s really going on with Monique. Its as if this industry has hurt, rejected and black balled her so bad, that she has lost a bit of her luster. Everytime she talks its like she is fighting for equal pay, and a myriad of other things. But because in some retrospect she comes off as the ‘angry black women’ people arent really listening to her.

Monique and Steve Harvey have been at each other publicly and privately for a few months now and it all came to a hedge on Steve Harvey’s show this past Tuesday. At times the conversation was heated while both exemplified a love and respect for the other in the business of comedy and movie making. But what got alot of people upset with Steve is his ideology that to be black you must code switch. To those that dont know what Code Switching is quick definition is basically not being your true self in your place of employment. I mean at some levels we all code switch. We generally dont speak to our husband and wives the same way we do our boss. But then Steve Iterated that hed rather be about his money to protect his family and wealth through the next generation than to have the integrity to speak up and or stand for something that you know is wrong. Mind you I am paraphrasing here. Im sure this clip is all over social media now for your own viewing pleasure. But this line had an aftershock for me. Initially i was like yeah—- you right Steve. Then i was like wait a minute isnt this what Colin Kaepernick been preaching the whole time. Sacrifice for something even if it means losing everything.
I don’t pretend to know Steve Harveys heart or what’s going on in his head. But i will say this, he and Monique both had some powerful view points in what they wanted to come across. I do believe she comes off as the winner of that convo not just on stage but on social media because of the fact that she has sacrificed and lost so much. And she aint code Switching for anyone.
