Intercession : prayer, petition or entreaty on behalf of another. The act of mediating between two parties for the purpose of effecting reconciliation. One of the offices of Christ is that of intercession. In His capacity of mediator He intercedes with God the Father on behalf of mankind. The bible teaches us that the Holy Ghost also makes intercession for us. In the epistles of Paul there is considerable emphasis on the duty of Christians to intercede for one another.
