Russell Major was a community leader. To some he was a football coach and school board president. Historical records call him an integrationist. Pamela, his daughter, remembers him as an amazing father and husband to her mother Janice Major. Neighbors on William street, before marrying, Russel and Janice Major grew up together. Each attended DMHS.
