In this episode, D.C. Bar Communities Office Sr. Program Attorney, Federico Barillas Schwank, speaks with Lt. William Xu, U.S. Navy Judge Advocate, about becoming a JAG and what the practice of law looks like for a military officer, from everyday tasks like writing wills and helping with evictions, to advising commanders on operational law and International Humanitarian Law. In the fall, Will and Federico will be co-teaching Born in the Battlefield, an American Red Cross training on the history and current application of the Laws of armed conflict and the role of the Red Cross movement in protecting the victims of war.
