People seem to experience recovery in different ways. Some people may notice a difference in their attitudes when they begin to feel happy. For example, you may suddenly realize that you don’t need everyone’s approval to feel happy and worthwhile. If someone is angry with you, instead of getting defensive and feeling devastated, you may tell yourself, “Hey, there’s probably some truth in their criticism. Let’s see what I can learn from this.” This new mind-set may improve your self-esteem and lead to much better relationships with others. Some people notice more of a change in their behavior when they recover. They have to take action to break out of a bad mood.
