Although the world didn't really care about 2013's Unpopular Songs for Unpopular People, it was a really important album for me. On it, I really challenged myself to approach songwriting from different angles. I gave the whole "writing tunes without chords" approach the college try. And it works! This tune in particular showcases the principle. Sure, there's a dominant tonality, but it's defined by melodic lines only, not by triads. What am I talking about?
