Greenwood grew up at Sedbergh school, where his rugby took to the stage alongside his cricket. He then went on to Durham University to further develop his studies. It wasn't until after working for HSBC that he then took to the field and started to get noticed.
Will described himself as skinny, slow player that certainly wasn't in competition for one of the spots within the England Rugby squad.

Will went on to play for the 1997 Lions tour as an uncapped international underdog an achievement like no other. Following this, he then went on to play in two more Lions tours; became a 2003 Rugby World Cup Winner and achieved 55 caps for England.
