This class is based on Likutey Moharan lesson 24: In Parshat Bamidbar, the census of the Jewish people reflects the deeper challenge of counting in a finite world while remaining connected to the Infinite. Rebbe Nachman reveals that the key to bridging this paradox—the finite and the Or Ein Sof—is the Keter, a crown-like barrier that both pushes us back and prepares us to receive Hashem’s light. Like numbers cycling through zero, spiritual growth requires starting again with joy after each setback. Reb Noson explains that counting Jews directly severs this connection, but counting through tzedakah for sacrifices infuses simchah into the process, transforming danger into Divine presence. As we count Sefirat HaOmer—through highs and lows—we prepare to receive the Torah anew, filled with the light of the Keter, where even simple mitzvot become vessels of love, clarity, and personal redemption.
