In Parshat Devarim, Moshe Rabbeinu recaps how he appointed judges and instructed them to be impartial, as judgment belongs to Hashem. Moshe's statement, "Any difficult case bring to me," led to his punishment by losing the knowledge of the inheritance laws for the daughters of Tzelofchad. Rashi and the Siftei Chachamim explain that this statement implied he was equating himself with G-d.Rebbe Nachman and Reb Noson teach that the goal of knowing is to realize how much you don't know. Moshe's statement contradicted this principle, as he should have emphasized reliance on Hashem's infinite wisdom. This humility and acknowledgment of one's limits are essential in Torah study and life.
