In Parashat Pekudey, Betzalel is praised for following Hashem’s instructions even more precisely than Moshe originally conveyed—building the Mishkan before the keilim (vessels). The Mishkan represents ratzon, the yearning that arises when we are distanced from the light. The vessels come later, as containers for the light we’ve longed for. True growth begins not with spiritual clarity, but with desire awakened in the shadow of setback. Betzalel’s name—Betzel Kel, in the shadow of God—reflects this path. From the shade of the Keter, we begin to build vessels through patience and longing, preparing to receive the infinite light. If you have been inspired by this class/lecture please share it with your friends.
