In Parshat BeShalach, the Jewish people face a test of faith when they find themselves without water. Instead of expressing their yearning for Hashem, they complain, leading to the episode of Moshe striking the rock. Rebbe Nachman explains that setbacks—hitting a wall and being pushed back—are essential for growth. The proper response is not frustration but crying out to Hashem with longing. By accepting obstacles with faith and yearning, we open the way for divine bounty and ultimate redemption.
