The Red Heifer at it's root is the uniting of the running and restraining of the intellect - 2 opposites in on unity - unified in Hashem's Unity. This itself is what cleans and rectifies from death and impurity, which descended to the world because of Adam's eating the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil, which was basically the blemish of Adam separating the running of his mind to pursue from the restraint which was supposed to be his acceptance of Hashem's order to not eat of the fruit etc.
