Felipe (Twitter: @pathological_h8) and Austin (@Round_Trippers) were joined by guest Jonathan (@BaseballHarmony) to discuss the current state of Major League Baseball as both the league and the MLP Players Association are undergoing a lockout that has frozen the hot stove baseball talk for the moment.
The guys spend a lot of time speculating what might be going on during negotiations between players and owners and what the big topics of discussion are on the table in order to get the upcoming 2022 season started right away. No surprise, a lot of the talks are surrounded by money issues as players are asking for a higher salaries while owners are countering with proposals where salaries are lowered.
Another topic discussed on this episode is the current state of baseball journalism as popular baseball insider, Ken Rosenthal, was relieved of his duties from MLB Network and the ramifications this might cause as to how the game is covered by sportswriters from here on out as the show tries to figure out if Rosenthal's mild criticism of MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred was the root cause of Rosenthal's dismissal.
The show wraps up with the guys disclosing what they learned from the 2021 baseball season and what they look forward to for the 2022 campaign as they disclose their baseball, New Year's resolution.
