Newbie RE Investor Podcast Ep1 - Interview with Contractor and Investor Joey Chan  Welcome to the first episode of Newbie real Estate Investors of NJ. The first episode highlights one of our two hosts Joey Chan who went from being a full time contractor to real estate investor.  Joey tells his story of how he started investing in real estate 2-1/2 years ago and scaled his real estate business to what it is today doing 6-8 projects at a time. He attended Seton Hall University after he graduated Passaic High School in 1998. In 2002 he was worked at Home Depot as was a kitchen designer. Shortly after in 2003 he started his contracting business. In 2009 he tried to start lumber business and shortly sold it after a few months, going into major debt, kept working on his contracting business.   Then in 2017 After attending real estate networking events for over 3 years, finally started investing in real estate again.  This time he wasn't gonna make the mistakes he made the first time around. Joey scales his business by doing joint ventures with other investors that helps bring value, by either finding deals, managing and or bringing funds to the deals.  Joey does a lot of networking with other investors and service providers to help his business.
