On today’s episode, we face yet another gut health myth that’s recently been popularized by the health influencers of TikTok - many of whom are physicians! Maybe you’ve seen one of these videos, where someone comes on screen and tells you why the supplements you're taking are a complete waste of  your time, money, and effort. Now at certain times that may be true, but is it really because these supplements don’t even get the chance to digest in your stomach in the first place? As I help to address this very nuanced topic, I break down the different cases I’m sure we’ve all seen on our timelines lately. Cases like: there’s so many capsules reportedly  showing up in our public waste these days, or that your supplements need to be taken with food in order for your body to even have a chance to digest them. As any good researcher should, we take the time to go past the surface level of each of these claims and dive deep into what’s really going on inside our bodies when we take these supplements, to find out if they truly are worth investing in in the first place.
