If a comedian doesn't set up the premise right, then the joke won't work. It is the same for every person as they learn new ideas.
If their existing premise and foundational mindset is not ready to receive the new information, the person will not get it, will not know what to do with it, and may even have a wrong understanding of the idea.
Many speak about the significance of storytelling in helping us learn, and if you have a wrong premise, then the story you are comparing to may be a bad metaphor for comparing the new information, and you may misunderstand the idea entirely.
Focus heavy on building the right mindset, and prepare yourself for the rest of your goals to fall into place in God's good time.
