Description

This episode is with the Dr. Gemar Mills.  In this podcast, Dr. Mills takes us on his journey from the Christopher Columbus Projects (CCP) to one of the most important voices in education today. We then have the fine print discussion on school reform. Sit back and enjoy.
Dr. Mills was just 27 when he became the principal of Malcolm X. Shabazz high in Newark NJ. At the helm, he transformed Shabazz in a few short years from a virtual war zone to a school in which hope filled the halls.  After four successful years at the helm, Mills decided to walk away, lured by an offer to become the chief education officer for a well-funded New York City-based nonprofit called The Future Project, which he says is working in about 50 campuses across America—including Shabazz and a half dozen other schools in Newark—to reinvent the structure of the nation’s high schools.
Today Dr. Gemar Mills is Executive Director of College Achieve Public Schools Paterson
