Description

On episode 30 of the Sounds of Stonebridge Podcast, we asked former Outside Associate and New Full Member, Fred Neikrug to join us.  Fred is a former Hospital Administrator in the City of Chicago.  Fred worked at some of the busiest hospitals in Chicago and has dealt with all sorts of crisis and disaster situations from SARS to a major train collision.  He mentioned there is a playbook for dealing with these sorts of situations, although this is what some call "a black swan" event and something that is hard to plan for.  He talked about how they re-allocate resources to ensure they maintain a high level of care for every patient.  We have also seen the dedication of our medical and healthcare workers on the front lines of this pandemic and Fred confirmed that every one of these people are dedicated to what they do and are focused on patient care and getting people better.  We also discussed the stress that an event like this put on a hospital as they are not able to perform elective surgical procedures which make the hospital large sums of money and generally pays the bills.   Jean Frankel also mentioned that she and her husband Barry are going to the club for dinner tonight.  She will give us a full report on what it was like in the dining room the first night it will be open for members.
