On Episode 37 we got very golf intensive. First we all expressed our dismay over the weather putting a real damper on all of our plans. Speaking for myself, I was realy looking to getting out and playing some golf and also playing in the special Memorial Day event that had been created by the Golf Department. We received over 4" of rain over the weekend. Before we got going, both Jean F. and I discussed going up to the 'drive by' birthday event that the club did for Herb Kanter's 97th birthday on Sunday. We then moved on to "The Match II" as it is known. By all acounts and the terrible weather, it was a complete success. The event raised over 20 million dollars for Covid-19 relief efforts. It was the most watched golf event on cable TV with an average of 5.8 million viewers. That does not count the people that may have recorded it on their DVR or watched it via one of the many streaming services that carried the match. The match also set records for sports betting on any golf event. That record was achieved before the 15th hole. There are a bunch of other statistics that you can check out at Yahoo Sports or ESPN.com. Personally, I was all geeked out over the tricked out golf carts that the players drove around in. They are being sold and and we discussed how much each cart might fetch for chartity. If you didn't watch it, sit down and roll back TNT using Replay TV and watch it. Pay careful attention to the special tribute that was done right before the players tee'ed off by Erie Johnson. Ok, I will admit it, I got a tear in my eye. On Thursday of this week, Irwin Aronsim will join us to discuss some of the privacy implications that are being tested during the crisis as well as some of the issues that are being raised by employers and employees about going back to work in a safe environment.
