Harvey the hammer Carignan (born May 18, 1927) is an American serial killer serving a 40-year sentence at the Minnesota Correctional Facility – Faribault for the murders of two women. He had been previously convicted for a 1949 rape and murder he committed while stationed in the U.S. Army, in Anchorage, Alaska. Although he was sentenced to hang, he was ultimately paroled for that crime in 1960. Harvey Carignan
