Lindy Browning Obituary

Oct. 19, 1927-Dec. 21, 2014 Lindy Donald Browning, 87, of Spartanburg, SC, died Sunday, December 21, 2014. Born October 19, 1927, in Millerville, AL, he was the son of the late John Daniel Browning and Dora Lee Lowry Browning. A U. S. Navy veteran of World War II, Mr. Browning also served in the U. S. Air Force and attended Auburn University. He was a commercial artist and safety engineer with United States Steel in Chicago, IL for 27 years. He also served as an assistant Scout leader with Troop 222 in Hammond, IN and was a great mentor for the young men and women in the community. He was of the Christian faith. Surviving is his cherished wife of 69 years, Lona Frances Watts Browning; children, Linda Abrami (John) of Texas, Billie Bowman (Roger) of Virginia, Leslie S. Browning of Spartanburg, and John E. Browning (Stephanie) of Missouri; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sisters, Marihalie Leeman of Maine and Barbara Anne Parris of South Carolina. Funeral services will be conducted at a later date in Alabama.
