Emanuel immigrated to Israel from Germany and studied Aeronautical Engineering at the Technion (Israel Institute of Technology). For 21 years, he served the country in the Air Force and the Mossad, in Israel and abroad, retiring as head of station in South East Asia. He served as a member of the Labor Party's Central Committee and in 2012 competed for a place in the Knesset.
