Lewis Clareburt is a New Zealand swimmer who has competed at both the Olympic and Commonwealth Games. He medalled with a Bronze in the 2018 Games, but 2022 saw him in some of his best form, winning 2 Golds and a Bronze at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
In this podcast we talked about Lewis’s journey from swimming in Wellington, to the heights of international competition. We talked about:
The feeling of standing on that podium and having the National Anthem blasting
The discipline of training and the hard yards behind the scenes
Competing and winning gold alongside one of his idols in the 200m Butterfly
The ins and outs of life in the New Zealand Village at the Games, including “Lift Chats”
Bouncing back from being ‘humbled’ and finding the drive to compete against the best
Heading into schools as an Olympic ambassador
Lewis is a world class athlete who is still early in his career, and it was great to sit down and yarn about the successes so far. Check it out on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and iHeartRadio.
