For the season 1 Finale it was an absolute honour to be able to sit down and chat with one of New Zealands greatest treasures in Helen Thayer.

Helen has achieved some of the most remarkable feats you have ever heard of. Named by the National Geographic as one of the greatest explorers of the twentieth century, she has pioneered some fantastic expeditions.

Her accomplishments include

• First woman to travel alone to any of the worlds poles at age 50 without dog sled, snowmobile, resupply or support
  
• First woman to walk across the sahara desert
  
• Walked across the gobi desert
  
• Kayaked the amazon river
  
• Lived near a wolf den for a year to study wild wolves
  
• American national Luge champion
  
• Represented 3 countries in international track and field
  

Helen has spoken at both the White House and the Russian Kremlin as she looks to spread her inspiring message and belief that anyone can do it if you make a plan and go for it.
