In this account, it can be easy to overlook the fact that the Israelites worshiped according to the Law of Moses. The Law (the first five books of the Bible) gave God’s people clear warnings about worshiping Him, which was quite different from the way the surrounding nations practiced the worship of their gods. The purpose of this warning was not only to redirect Israel toward distinct and holy living, but also for the simple purpose of demonstrating the better way of the God of Israel.
Think about this: What does it mean to live a holy life? As Christians, how can we communicate a better way of living to our surrounding culture?
