Today is Wednesday, November 13, 2019 and here is your Daily Devo.
It’s important to realize that Habakkuk not only experienced joy in the Lord despite his circumstances, but also that he “rejoiced” as well. In other words, it’s not as if Habakkuk was merely saying, “No worries. I’m not going to let my circumstances bring me down. I’m going to hang in there and be fine.” No, his joy overflowed into rejoicing, and his rejoicing resulted in worship.
Some of the best worship in our lives comes from times of brokenness and sadness—those times when everything else is gone except God. Like Habakkuk, may we be able to say today and in our own way what he said then. For some of you, that may look like: “though I failed my test, though my boyfriend or girlfriend breaks up with me, though my parents get divorced, though life seems overly complicated and confusing at this time—YET I will celebrate in the Lord and I will rejoice in the God of my salvation!”
Think about this: How do you think Habakkuk was able to rejoice despite his circumstances? In what ways does Habakkuk’s life compare to your life today? How can you respond to your difficulties with joy and worship?
