Amid Sha’Carri Richardson being suspended for a month (which includes participating in the Tokyo Olympic Games), we dive into a conversation that Adriana has wanted to have in this podcast since day one - CANNABIS! Because Sha’Carri had been on my mind after the news of her failed drug test, I knew it was time to sit with my ‘Organic’ family to discuss this highly politicized plant. This episode, we dive into the history of cannabis use, it’s origin, and how cannabis is widely regarded as the plant longest cultivated for non-food purposes. We will also talk about the plant’s racist nickname, criminalization, and the Gateway Theory. While Cannabis legalization becomes increasingly popular, it is important to note that the conversation surrounding its decriminalization is extremely black-and-white; we discuss some of the reasons the two sides of this argument (people for cannabis legalization, people who think cannabis is "bad" and thus shouldn't be legalized) are so emotionally charged.
