Show Topic: ‘Goon Squad’ of law officers

Over the past decade, there have been many disturbing encounters between police and the black community. Where officers have used excessive force on unarmed African Americans. The death of Tyre Nichols, a Black man who died three days after being beaten in a traffic stop in early January by five Black Police Officers in Memphis shocked the country.

Now eight months later we are hearing about another outrageous police brutality incident that occurred in the same month in Mississippi before Tyre Nichols's death. The Six white former Rankin law enforcement officers pleaded guilty to hindering prosecution in their torturing of two Black men as part of a “Goon Squad” operation aimed at getting African Americans to “go back” to the predominantly Black city of Jackson.
